TypeLiya

Type Sinhala in supported website fields using familiar Singlish.

TypeLiya converts phonetic Singlish input to Sinhala locally while you type. It handles standard inputs, textareas, contenteditable surfaces, controlled fields, frames, dynamic editors, and dedicated adapters such as Google Docs. Version 1.0.1 also hardens rich-editor composition for WhatsApp-style contenteditable inputs.

What it does

TypeLiya is an offline Singlish-to-Sinhala Chromium extension that converts typing directly inside supported browser fields without a conversion server.

  • Case-sensitive Singlish-to-Sinhala transliteration with long vowels and conjunct rules.
  • Support for standard inputs, textareas, contenteditable surfaces, React-controlled fields, frames, and dynamic fields.
  • Dedicated Google Docs typing bridge and rich-editor composition handling.
  • Website exclusions plus a user-configurable quick-toggle shortcut.
  • අකුරු සූචිය letter guide for searching and copying Sinhala letters and key mappings.
  • Sensitive-field detection for password, payment, OTP, code-editor, and similar contexts.
  • System, Light, and Dark appearance with bundled Sinhala fonts for consistent offline display.
  • Offline operation with no API key, TypeLiya backend, analytics, telemetry, or remote conversion service.

Permissions

Each permission is listed with the reason it exists. Optional permissions are requested only when the related feature is used.

storage

Stores local typing preferences such as enabled state, keyboard method, website exclusions, and appearance.

HTTP/HTTPS website access

Allows the packaged typing controller to run in supported website fields and frames and lets TypeLiya apply site-specific controls. It does not keep a browsing-history log.
