TypeLiya

Type Sinhala in supported website fields using familiar Singlish.

TypeLiya converts phonetic Singlish input to Sinhala locally while you type. It supports standard inputs, textareas, contenteditable surfaces, React-controlled fields, frames, and dedicated editor adapters where required. The extension is intentionally local-first and does not transmit typed content to a TypeLiya backend.

What it does

TypeLiya is an offline Singlish-to-Sinhala Chromium extension designed to work directly inside supported browser text fields without a conversion server.

  • Case-sensitive Singlish-to-Sinhala transliteration with long-vowel and conjunct rules.
  • Standard inputs, textareas, contenteditable surfaces, controlled fields, frames, and dynamic fields.
  • Dedicated Google Docs typing bridge under active validation.
  • Local domain exclusions and an optional user-assigned toggle shortcut.
  • Sensitive-field detection for password, payment, OTP, code-editor, and similar contexts.
  • Offline operation with no API key, backend, analytics, or remote conversion service.

Permissions

Each permission is listed with the reason it exists. Optional permissions are requested only when the related feature is used.

storage

Stores only the enabled state and user-managed excluded domains in local extension storage.

HTTP/HTTPS website access

Allows the local typing controller to run in supported fields and frames across websites and lets TypeLiya enforce per-site exclusions.
