OrbitMeter

A standalone, unofficial Starlink usage and billing companion.

OrbitMeter focuses on Starlink usage and account context without bundling QuotaLK's Dialog or SLT integrations. It can show current billing-cycle usage, daily usage, previous-cycle history, service-line nickname and plan, subscription state, currency and due dates, and the latest payment summary when those values are available from the Starlink account portal.

What it does

OrbitMeter is a Starlink-only Chromium extension built from QuotaLK's shared provider core, with its own manifest, popup, background worker, permissions, branding, and release output.

  • Starlink-only standalone Manifest V3 build with a dedicated popup and background worker.
  • Current billing-cycle usage displayed with provider-reported decimal GB semantics.
  • Recent daily usage and previous billing-cycle history when available.
  • Service-line nickname, plan, subscription state, currency, due dates, and latest payment summary when provided by Starlink.
  • Saved usage shown immediately with revalidation when data becomes stale.
  • Background refresh choices of Off, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours; default is Off.
  • Retry backoff and authentication-aware pause behavior after failures.
  • Masked service-line identifiers in persisted snapshots, including migration away from older raw cached identifiers.
  • No QuotaLK-only scripting permission and no Dialog or SLT provider code in the OrbitMeter background worker.

Permissions

Each permission is listed with the reason it exists. Optional permissions are requested only when the related feature is used.

storage

Stores minimized Starlink usage snapshots, local preferences, refresh status, and selected service-line state on the user's device.

alarms

Runs the optional user-selected background refresh interval and restores it after browser or service-worker restarts.

starlink.com host accessoptional

Requested only to retrieve supported Starlink usage and account information from first-party Starlink endpoints using the user's existing signed-in browser session.
