Office Escape Extension Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 9, 2026

The Office Escape Extension stores schedule and reminder state locally. It does not read browsing history, arbitrary webpage content, cookies, active tabs, passwords, or authentication credentials.

Data stored locally

The extension stores the information required to provide its countdown and reminder experience in local browser extension storage.

  • Work schedules and countdown-related state.
  • Extension and reminder preferences.
  • Recent reminder identifiers used to avoid duplicate reminders.

Data the extension does not read

The Office Escape Extension does not request access to browsing history, arbitrary webpage content, cookies, active-tab contents, passwords, or authentication credentials.

Office Escape web-app connection

The extension accepts supported integration messages only from the official Office Escape web application declared in its Manifest V3 externally_connectable configuration. This connection is used for the Office Escape companion experience, such as schedule or work-session synchronization.

Notifications

Browser notifications are optional. The notifications permission is requested only after the user explicitly enables Workday Nudges and is used only to show those Office Escape reminders.

Analytics, advertising, and sale of data

The browser extension itself is not designed to collect browsing behavior for advertising or sell extension data. Its permissions are limited to the local companion functionality described in this policy.

Data deletion

Removing the extension removes its local extension storage. Users can also change or disable reminder settings from the Office Escape experience before removal.

Permissions used

The following permission descriptions reflect the current extension manifest and product behavior.

storage

Stores work schedules, extension preferences, reminder preferences, and recent reminder identifiers locally in the browser.

alarms

Schedules local countdown/reset and reminder timing without keeping a continuously running background page.

notificationsoptional

Requested only after the user explicitly enables Workday Nudges, so the extension can show those reminders.

externally_connectable

Restricts web-to-extension messages to the official Office Escape web application at escape-office.vercel.app.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices materially change, this policy will be updated before or alongside the release that introduces those changes.
